Increase user engagement with Playful Experience Design (PXD)

What is Playful Experience Design?

Playful Experience Design (PXD) is a creative problem-solving process developped by IDL, aiming at helping product teams align and perform around a common vision: user engagement.

PXD can have several forms. However, at IDL we practice it in the form of a three-day workshop. During the workshop, product teams are brought together, define the scope of the exercise (what is the common goal they want to design form), define their target audience and then work together in order to address their goals through a set of activities, specially designed to help teams brainstorm, filter ideas and test them with real users.

At its core, PXD is a design methodology that seeks to make experiences more engaging and intrinsically motivating for users. By integrating playful mechanics, it goes beyond traditional design thinking to create experiences that resonate with users on a deeper, more emotional level. The brilliance of PXD lies in its universal application; whether you’re a startup or a multinational corporation, this design approach can be tailored to your specific needs.

PXD is based on the combination of many years’ research and industry experience in the fields of product strategy and its foundations are laid out in the books Educational Game Design Fundamentals and Don’t Force it, Solve it!
