That is why we are proud to announce our role as a key partner in the iStream project, an ambitious Erasmus+ initiative designed to transform how the next generation of journalists tells stories.
As the media landscape shifts toward 3D environments, the competence gap is becoming more apparent. iStream is the bridge.
The iStream Vision
The project is focused on creating a comprehensive educational ecosystem for Higher Education. We aren’t just looking at the gear; we are looking at the human skills required to use immersive technology ethically and accurately.
The core of the project is built on five pillars that IDL has helped shape:
- iStream Competence Framework: Defining the professional profile of the “Immersive Journalist.”
- iStream Curriculum: A full one-year university study track dedicated to 360°, VR, and AR reporting.
- iStream Syllabus: Direct supporting materials for HE teachers to bring these concepts into the classroom.
- iStream Lab Guidelines: The technical and structural blueprint for universities to set up their own Immersive Journalism Labs.
- iStream Training Course: Hands-on technical expertise to master the tools of the trade.
Building the “Immersive Journalist” Profile
Through our partnership, IDL has contributed its technical expertise to ensure that these results are practical, scalable, and cutting-edge. From managing equipment pricing in the Lab Guidelines to refining the UX/UI of the syllabi, our goal is to make the transition to immersive storytelling frictionless for educators across Europe.
The result of this work will be a new generation of reporters who can bring an interviewee directly into a viewer’s living room, or allow a citizen to witness a news event firsthand with total accuracy.
