Traditional Sports and Games have always played an important role in bringing people together, strengthening social bonds, and preserving local identities. However, many of these practices are at risk of being forgotten as communities change and modern forms of entertainment dominate everyday life. The REMIND project was created to respond to this challenge by highlighting the value of traditional games and exploring their potential for contemporary society.
REMIND brings together partners from different European countries with a shared interest in safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage. The project focuses on documenting traditional games, sharing knowledge across borders, and supporting grassroots organizations that work directly with local communities. By doing so, REMIND helps ensure that these practices are not only preserved but also revitalized and adapted for new generations.
A key element of the project is its emphasis on education and capacity building. Through training materials, digital tools, and collaborative activities, REMIND equips community leaders, educators, and volunteers with new skills and methodologies. This enables them to integrate traditional games into their work in meaningful and innovative ways.
The project also encourages dialogue and cooperation between different cultural contexts. By exchanging experiences and best practices, partners learn from one another and develop a deeper understanding of Europe’s diverse traditions. This transnational approach strengthens the sense of shared heritage while respecting local uniqueness.
Overall, REMIND demonstrates how tradition and innovation can go hand in hand, creating opportunities for learning, inclusion, and community development across Europe.
