Introducing the iStream Project to Experts

The iStream Project, part of the ERASMUS+ programme, aims to reshape Higher Education by integrating immersive journalism into university curricula. With technologies like VR, AR, 360° video, and interactive storytelling transforming media, iStream supports the development of new programmes that prepare students for the future of journalism.

Focus Group for Curriculum Development

To lay the groundwork, a focus group was held with experts in media, communication, technology, and data analysis. The goal was to define infrastructure needs, teaching strategies, and interdisciplinary practices that will guide immersive journalism education.

Key Insights and Curriculum Directions

Participants emphasized critical thinking as essential for ethical storytelling in immersive formats. They also highlighted the importance of audience awareness and strategic content design, ensuring accessibility and impact. Creativity and inclusion emerged as core values, urging educators to embrace multisensory and inclusive storytelling approaches.

While technical expertise isn’t required, basic technical literacy is vital for collaboration with specialists. The group also stressed the need for interdisciplinary teamwork, proposing a new role to bridge editorial and technical domains. Above all, the curriculum must promote ethical awareness and future-readiness, ensuring students are equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
