Empowering University Students Through Physical Literacy: Discover the ePhyLi E-Learning Platform

In an era where digital transformation is reshaping education, IDL presents the ePhyLi platform, which we have created as part of the Erasmus+ Sport-funded ePhyLi project. What is all about? That comprehensive e-learning resource is designed to enhance physical literacy (PL) and promote healthy, active lifestyles among university students.

A Multilingual, Multi-Device Learning Portal

Tailored for both undergraduate and postgraduate learners, the ePhyLi platform offers a gamified and interactive learning experience accessible across devices and available in four languages: English, Greek, Italian, and French. Whether in the classroom or on the go, students can dive into a rich world of resources that combine academic rigor with engaging storytelling and digital innovation.

The Interactive E-Book

At the heart of the platform lies a detailed e-book featuring eight immersive learning activities designed specifically for physical education students. This foundational resource unpacks key concepts and practices of physical literacy, making it an ideal addition to higher education curricula, particularly for those preparing to become physical education teachers.

Comic E-Books: Learning Through Storytelling

To bring physical literacy to life, the platform includes two comic-style e-books that introduce characters whose personal journeys exemplify the power of physical activity.

  • Roly’s Story
Roly is a spirited boy whose love for sport fuels a lifetime of exploration, resilience, and connection. From playing in his local park to discovering new sports in the Army, Roly’s passion for physical activity remains a constant source of joy and personal growth, even as an adult inspiring his own children.
  • Silvana’s Story
Growing up in a city with limited green spaces, Silvana found her way through school-based sports programs. Overcoming self-doubt and body image concerns, she flourished in activities like volleyball and fencing. Today, she’s a dedicated PE teacher and advocate for inclusive physical literacy, showing how movement can be a path to confidence and empowerment.

These comics add a relatable, gamified dimension to the platform, enhancing the appeal and accessibility of physical literacy education.

Interactive Learning Modules

The ePhyLi platform includes three dynamic learning units, each comprising interactive modules designed to deepen understanding and encourage reflection. These units aim to develop key elements of physical literacy: motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding.

  1. Promoting Physical Literacy in PE Lessons
This module introduces authentic tasks to assess and support students across physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains.
  2. Challenging Students at the Right Level
Focusing on personalized learning, this module helps future educators tailor challenges to individual abilities, ensuring progress and success for every student.
  3. Holistic Focus and Reflection in PE
With a double emphasis, this module explores how reflective teaching and continuous assessment can guide students’ physical literacy journeys. It highlights the importance of addressing all four domains, physical, cognitive, affective, and social, in both teaching and evaluation.

An Open Resource for Modern Education

Collectively, the ePhyLi learning platform represents 3 ECTS credits and is freely available to the public. It equips university students, not just with theoretical knowledge, but with practical, innovative tools they can carry into their future careers as educators, coaches, or health advocates.

Explore the platform today and join the movement toward lifelong physical literacy!
