GreenToC project

GreenToC

The GreenToC project (Synergies between HEI and the labour market for developing sustainability capabilities for green transformation strategies using the ToC and AI) is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership in Higher Education (KA220-HED). Running from December 2024 to March 2027, the project connects higher education institutions (HEIs) with the labour market to strengthen sustainability competences that drive Europe’s green transformation.

The project’s primary target groups are university students, academic staff, researchers, and employers from sectors involved in sustainable innovation and green economy development. It responds to the need for interdisciplinary, future-oriented education that links higher education with real-world sustainability challenges. GreenToC uses the Theory of Change (ToC) methodology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to create a structured framework for developing, implementing, and evaluating sustainability strategies that can be applied both in academia and industry.

The project’s main objectives include:

  • Building stronger collaboration between HEIs and businesses to align sustainability education with labour market demands.

  • Integrating ToC and AI-based tools into curricula to support critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making in sustainability planning.

  • Equipping young professionals with skills for the green and digital transitions, including systems thinking, innovation management, and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Expected outcomes include a competence framework for green transformation, an AI-supported learning and assessment platform, pilot trainings, and case studies demonstrating ToC applications in sustainability projects. These results will form the basis for a replicable model of university–industry cooperation supporting Europe’s long-term green goals.
