As Europe accelerates its transition toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy, the need for a workforce equipped with green skills has never been greater. This is where the GREEN SHOOTS – Green Skills for VET Training project steps in—bridging the gap between education and the evolving demands of the green job market.
At its core, GREEN SHOOTS is about empowerment. It supports vocational education and training (VET) professionals by providing innovative tools, digital resources, and immersive learning approaches that make green education both accessible and impactful. The project recognises that today’s educators play a crucial role in shaping tomorrow’s sustainable workforce.
One of the project’s key achievements is the development of Competence Profiles for Green Careers. These profiles offer a structured framework of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required in emerging green professions. They serve as a practical guide for educators while helping learners prepare for careers in fast-growing, sustainability-focused industries.
The GREEN SHOOTS eLearning Course brings green education to life through an engaging digital platform. By integrating gamification, virtual reality, and simulation-based learning, the course offers an interactive experience that goes beyond traditional teaching methods. Learners can explore real-world scenarios, develop both technical and soft skills, and gain confidence in navigating the green economy.
Recognising that effective teaching is key to meaningful learning, the project also delivers a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme for VET professionals. This tailored training equips educators with modern pedagogical approaches and digital competences, enabling them to deliver high-quality education in green skills. Through workshops, collaborative learning, and self-directed study, trainers are better prepared to guide learners toward sustainable careers.
