CONVERT

The CONVERT project is a Forward-Looking initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme. Its primary goal is to address the acute shortage of skilled ICT workers in the European Union by creating certified, short-term training modules. Unlike traditional long-term degrees, CONVERT focuses on rapid reskilling for recent non-ICT graduates and upskilling for junior employees to help them transition into emerging digital roles.

Key Pillars & Focus Areas

  • Target Groups: Recent graduates from non-technical backgrounds and junior professionals (up to 2 years of experience) looking to move into the tech sector.
  • Curriculum Focus: High-demand ICT areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, and Programming.
  • Micro-credentials: A core feature of the project is the use of micro-credentials to provide flexible, industry-recognized certification for the specific skills acquired.
  • Industry Alignment: The project uses a “Skills Catalogue” developed through extensive labor market mapping to ensure the training matches the real-world needs of SMEs and large enterprises.

Expected Impact

  • Digital Transition: Accelerating the digital transformation of European SMEs by providing a “resilient workforce” capable of handling advanced technologies.
  • Diversity in Tech: A specific focus on increasing the representation of women in tech-related professions.
  • Lifelong Learning: Contributing to the EU target of having at least 60% of adults participating in training every year.
