BREAKS

The innovative Erasmus+ project BREAKS aims to enhance schoolteachers’ knowledge and understanding of movement breaks—why and how they can be applied in the classroom—and to provide them with the means, methodologies, and tools for implementing them in real classroom settings.

The project’s main objectives (O) are to:

  • Design, develop and test an innovative training programme for primary and lower secondary schoolteachers, upskilling them for designing and implementing inclusive movement break activities in their classrooms for promoting students’ engagement with physical activity.
  • Develop and test an e-platform that will act as a hub for resources, materials and networking space for teachers, promoting collaboration and the exchange of good practices.
  • Facilitate the practical application of learned skills by enabling trained teachers to implement the ‘movement breaks’ in their classrooms.
  • Raise awareness among school leaders and counsellors about the importance of incorporating appropriately designed and inclusive movement breaks in the classroom to promote children’s physical and mental health, academic achievements, and to engage all in the classroom regardless of cultural background and language barriers.
  • Facilitate the widespread dissemination and sustainability of resources and innovative training approaches to the wider EU community and internationally.

Expected outcomes include:

  • The BREAKS Training Package, including all the training material to learn how to develop active breaks in the classroom.
  • The BREAKS eLearning platform, which implements the training package in an intuitive and playful way.
  • The BREAKS teacher training, where the consortium members train teachers using the training package and eLearning platform to develop active breaks.
  • The BREAKS implementation of teaching activities, which enables teachers to efficiently implement active breaks in their classrooms.

IDL is responsible for designing the eLearning platform that implements the training package developed by the consortium to share it with a larger audience of primary and secondary school teachers so they can learn how to develop active BREAKS in their classrooms.

Additionally, IDL supports the project’s digital communication and dissemination strategy, ensuring that the training material reaches a wide audience across the consortium countries: Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Serbia and France.
